Medicare Marketing Guidelines and Agent Licensing Requirements Related to Certain Medicare Plans and Prescription Drug Plans

Medicare Marketing Guidelines and Agent Licensing Requirements Related to Certain Medicare Plans and Prescription Drug Plans

The Texas Department of insurance published a bulletin concerning the Medicare Marketing Guidelines and agent licensing requirements.
The annual Medicare open enrollment period this year is from October 15, 2017, through December 7, 2017.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services publishes the Medicare Marketing Guidelines for the marketing of Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plans, Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, 1876 Cost Plans, and Medicare-Medicaid Plans, except as modified or clarified in state-specific marketing guidance for each state's demonstration. Also, when applicable, the Guidelines apply to employer- or union-sponsored group plans, including employer- or union-only group waiver plans.
This bulletin reminds carriers and agents to review the Guidelines.
Agents are also reminded to complete the TDI-required professional training before selling or representing an insurer in relation to Medicare-related products.
This bulletin also provides information concerning nonresident agent licensees.
Please visit the TDI website at www.tdi.texas.gov/bulletins/index.html to review the bulletin.
