TDI adopts updates to minimum standards for Medicare supplement policies

TDI has adopted updates to the minimum standards for Medicare supplement policies to incorporate changes required by federal law.
The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 prohibits Medicare supplement policies from covering the Medicare Part B deductible for policies issued to individuals who are first eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.
This adoption also allows an issuer to replace an individual's certificate with a certificate of the same standardized benefit plan type in another state when the certificate holder moves from Texas to a new state. It also requires electronic submission of a new Medicare Supplement Refund Calculation Form.
