South Dakota recently submitted a request to...
...CMS to add work
requirements to nondisabled adults enrolled in its Medicaid program. Just
91,725 South Dakotans receive Medicaid benefits, one of the smallest counts in
the U.S. The state estimates its Medicaid population will decrease by about 15%
annually, due to "increased income or individuals choosing not to
participate." Like Mississippi, the state seeks to apply work requirements
to its traditional Medicaid population, as it did not expand Medicaid.
