Pandemic prompts reduced mammography, MRI use

Researchers found that preventive and elective care service use in
the US dropped in March and April amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with mammography
use among women ages 46 to 64 declining nearly 67% and MRI utilization
decreasing by 45%, compared with the same period last year. The findings in
JAMA Network Open also showed that telemedicine visits in April rose over
4,000%, compared with the same month last year, but the increase only offset
approximately 40% of the reduction in health care office visits.
