Geographic Direct Contracting Model and Webinar Announced

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Innovation Center is excited to announce the Geographic Direct Contracting Model (“Geo”). The Model will test a geographic-based approach to improve health and reduce costs in set regions across the country.  Geo will enable Direct Contracting Entities (DCEs) to build more integrated relationships with healthcare providers and community organizations in a region to better coordinate care for Medicare beneficiaries.

In an effort to gauge interest in participation in Geo, CMS is now seeking non-binding Letters of Interest from sophisticated entities, such as Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), health systems, health care provider groups, and health plans in certain target regions.  The Letter of Interest (LOI) for Geo is open from today until December 21, 2020. Interested stakeholders can submit an LOI at Geographic Direct Contracting Model Letter of Interest. Entities that choose not to submit an LOI will still be able to apply to participate in Geo.

For more information, please refer to the recently released model fact sheet that can be found on the Geo webpage at https://innovation.cms.gov/innovation-models/geographic-direct-contracting-model. Stakeholders can also email the Geo model team with questions and comments at DCGEO@cms.hhs.gov.

Upcoming Webinar

The model team will also host a webinar to discuss the model on December 8, 2020 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EST. To register for this webinar, please click here.
