Intermountain Healthcare and Sanford Health have called...

...off their planned merger, according to a press release from Intermountain. The decision was spurred by the abrupt departure of longtime Sanford CEO Kelby Krabbenhoft, who resigned following the release of a controversial email to Sanford staff where he outlined his reasons for refusing to wear a mask amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The combined organization would have operated 70 hospitals and provided health insurance to 1,103,885 people in seven states.
