Mortality rate of hospitalized COVID-19, diabetes
patients
A study in Diabetologia found that 20% of COVID-19 patients with
diabetes die within 28 days of being admitted to a hospital and that those who
receive insulin on a regular basis have a 44% elevated risk of death, compared
with those who don't receive insulin treatment. The findings, based on data
from roughly 2,800 adults, also revealed that elevated blood glucose level at
the time of hospital admission was a strong predictor of lower odds of
discharge and higher risk of death.
