TDI proposes
revising mental health parity rules
The
Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) proposes to repeal and revise
portions of the Texas Administrative Code related to health plan
coverage of mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
The
proposal includes a requirement for health plans to provide data on the
plans’ claims, utilization reviews, and reimbursement rates, and to
analyze parity compliance. TDI also proposes revising rules to reflect
that autism spectrum disorder coverage is subject to the same rules as
mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
Visit the TDI
website for a copy of the proposal and information on how to
submit comments.
