The cruise industry took a step toward normalcy
Why it matters: Tomorrow, Celebrity Edge will be the first
cruise line to sail from the United States in well over 15 months as it departs
from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The industry, like many others, has been battered by
the pandemic. A lot is riding on how well this trip goes. A coronavirus
outbreak connected to passengers onboard could be devastating. The CDC put
Celebrity on code red on Monday, but the one staffer who tested positive for
COVID-19 is off the ship and all other staff have tested negative, the cruise
line says.
