More than a quarter of US COVID-19 cases are from delta variant, CDC estimates

More than a quarter of COVID-19 cases in the United States are currently from the delta variant, according to an estimate from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. New England, however, because the region's high vaccination rates, is seeing a lower proportion than the national average.

In Los Angeles County, public health leaders are so concerned about the spread of the variant that they've urged both vaccinated and unvaccinated people to continue wearing masks inside public indoor spaces. And they're not the only ones. Last week, the World Health Organization reiterated its recommendation for everyone to wear masks.
