Army, VA honor Black soldiers hanged in the aftermath of 1917 Houston Riots, pledge to review their courts-martial

The Department of Veterans Affairs unveiled a sign at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio to acknowledge the 1917 race riots in Houston that led to courts-martial and death sentences for 19 Black soldiers. The Army this month announced it would review the trials.

Navy less active in annual anti-submarine drill as attention focuses on Russia’s next moves

Suspended Army public affairs commander approved for retirement with reprimand

Brig. Gen. Amy Johnston, the Army chief of public affairs, was issued a general officer’s memorandum of reprimand following the IG investigation, a typically career-ending administrative punishment, but she will retire with the benefits of a one-star general.

700 National Guard troops to assist Washington police with planned trucker protest

As many as 700 National Guard troops have been activated to assist Washington law enforcement with traffic control through March 7 as several planned trucker protests make their way to the U.S. capital in the coming weeks, according to the Pentagon.
