In April, federal prosecutors announced that they had
obtained guilty pleas from 11 healthcare fraud defendants just months after
their indictments.
As someone who has covered a lot of federal court cases, this is
not usual. For instance, the cases from the Forest Park Medical fraud
investigation took years to make it to the sentencing phase.
D CEO Healthcare Managing Editor Will Maddox parsed through trial
records and conducted several interviews to explain how prosecutors built cases
against North Texas’ Reliable Labs, Spectrum Diagnostic Laboratory, and Unified
Laboratory Services, and how that process resulted in quick pleas from the
defendants.
