Why it matters: Women are 22% more likely to develop long COVID
than men, with the most common symptoms for women in the month following
diagnosis with COVID-19 including muscle aches and pains; problems of the ear,
nose and throat; shortness of breath; and mood disorders including depression.
Researchers wrote that women may be at higher risk for long COVID symptoms
because their generally quicker and stronger immune response can make them
"more vulnerable to prolonged autoimmune-related diseases."
