Genetic discovery may shed light on women and
Alzheimer’s
In study results published in Alzheimer's & Dementia®:
The Journal of the Alzheimer's Association, researchers
identified a gene that may increase Alzheimer's risk in women,
providing a potential clue as to why more women than men are
diagnosed with the disease. The gene, MGMT, plays a role in how the
body repairs DNA damage in men and women, but the researchers
didn’t find an association between MGMT and Alzheimer's in men.
