The Food and Drug Administration advised Thursday that vaccine
manufacturers tailor upcoming
booster shots to the currently circulating Omicron variants. The
jabs could be ready by this fall.
The FDA decision followed an advisory committee vote just days earlier that
made the same recommendation. It paves the way for Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax
— once authorized — to incorporate elements specific to the newer strains into
the vaccines.
