Celebrating trailblazing LLS advocates on Women’s Equality Day

Dear JOHN,

As we celebrate Women’s Equality Day—commemorating the 19th Amendment, which established the right to vote for women—we recognize the trailblazing women who continue to exercise their right to vote, advocate, and change laws for those affected by blood cancer, like survivor and advocate Sharon.

Sharon was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2015, after experiencing unusual symptoms like aches and fatigue. The first time she got a prescription filled through her Medicare coverage, she learned her oral treatment would cost her $2,000—for just a single month. Eventually, Sharon had to forego that medication because the expense was just too much.
