TDI issues bulletin on insurers’ duty to
promptly pay settled claims
The Texas Department of
Insurance (TDI) has issued a
bulletin for surplus lines companies, HMOs, and regulated
insurers. The bulletin:
- Reminds them of their
obligation to act in good faith to pay settled claims in a prompt and
equitable manner.
- Advises them of the
consequences of violating rules that protect Texans from unfair claim
settlement practices.
