Letter from the Chairman—A Year In Review

Dear Veteran,

As we come to the end of another holiday season and year, it is important to not only look forward, but to also reflect on the accomplishments, blessings, and growth of the past twelve months. Throughout 2022, the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) has continuously worked to provide Veterans, Military Members, and their families in Texas with the highest quality care and the best benefits in the country. Here are just a few of the highlights from a year dedicated to supporting our Veterans.

VLB Announces January 2023 Veterans-Only Land Sale Now Open for Bidding

The current sale features tracts in eight counties: Bosque, Cameron, Camp, Comal, Grimes, Henderson, Johnson and Palo Pinto. Available tracts can be viewed on the VLB Land Sale page. All bids must be placed by January 24, 2023, by 5 p.m. C.T.

Voices of Veterans—John Bartels

John Bartels joined the U.S. Air Force in 1974. He worked in the cockpits of A-17s, T-33s, F-4s, C-141s, and C-5s as an Avionics Instruments Systems Specialist. Mr. Bartels retired from the Air Force in 1985. He now resides at the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home in Temple, Texas.
