Renewables topped coal for US energy in 2022
Why it matters: The US' transition away from coal to renewable
energy is somewhat of a slog, but wind and solar sources accounted for 14% of
the energy produced in the US last year, and for the first time, renewables
surpassed coal, according to the US Energy Information Administration. Given
the recent scare the latest IPCC
report gave the world, this snippet of data from EIA is
reason to be optimistic.
