The FDA this week approved...
...Eli Lilly's Emgality for the
treatment of cluster headaches, a nod that distinguishes it from its more
popular migraine rivals, Novartis' Aimovig and Teva's Ajovy. Emgality is now
the only drug approved to treat cluster headaches, and Lilly execs said they
expect quick uptake. For the treatment of migraine headaches, Emgality
currently holds preferred tier status for 13% of covered lives, growing to 43%
with prior authorizations and/or step therapy.
