As the sports world continues to navigate its return through the
uncertainty that is the coronavirus pandemic, North Texas appears to be closing
in on another professional sporting event.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted on Monday afternoon about discussions he
has had with NASCAR about a potential return to
the track, without fans, at Texas Motor Speedway.
"Texas Governor
Greg Abbott has given NASCAR the green flag to race, and our sport is eager to
get back on track. Texas Motor Speedway will work aggressively with the sanctioning
bodies and TV networks to give American society, as well as people around the
world, a positive distraction during this crisis," said TMS president and
general manager Eddie Gossage in a statement.
