Why it matters: Every ballot measure in this week's US
elections that proposed loosening restrictions on drugs was approved by voters
-- by at least 5 percentage points! Voters legalized the recreational use of marijuana
in Arizona, Montana, New Jersey, and South Dakota. Voters in Mississippi and
South Dakota legalized medical marijuana. Beyond weed, voters in Oregon
decriminalized all drugs, including cocaine and heroin, and legalized the use
of the psychedelic drug found in magic mushrooms for supervised therapeutic
uses. Forget purple, it looks like red and blue make green.
