Brighthouse Sees Strong Annuity Sales, But Expects Decline

Brighthouse Financial has been increasing fixed annuities, which is counter to what many other carriers are doing because of the pressure of low interest rates and capital intensity. But rates decreased from about 1.5% to around 1% in the fourth quarter, company executives said.
