From Guy Benson: America’s COVID data is dramatically improving. Couple that with the existing vaccine ramp-up, and the likelihood of an additional vaccine (which is also very effective, especially at preventing severe cases of Coronavirus) getting approved in the coming weeks, and there’s additional cause for optimism. Now sprinkle in game-changing testing innovations like this, and the sense that we’re turning the corner becomes even more immediate and encouraging (Townhall).
From Scott Gottlieb: Some good news this week: Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine looks likely to become the third U.S. Covid-19 vaccine to enter the market. The company released data this week showing the vaccine is about 70% effective against the virus, and its version requires only one shot. The Food and Drug Administration will need to review the evidence thoroughly, but the preliminary data is promising. The company is collecting more information to determine whether a booster shot could provide even better protection (WSJ).
The New York Times breaks down a number if interesting coronavirus statistics, including this: While 5 percent of the country’s cases have occurred in long-term care facilities, deaths related to Covid-19 in these facilities account for about 34 percent of the country’s pandemic fatalities (NY Times).
