FDA: Xeljanz can raise cancer, heart problem risks
The FDA said that preliminary findings from a safety clinical
trial showed ulcerative colitis and rheumatoid arthritis drug Xeljanz, or
tofacitinib, can raise a person's risk of developing cancer and serious heart
problems, particularly among RA patients. The agency requested the trial after
interim trial results in 2019 showed the drug increased the risks of death and
blood clots among patients prescribed the 10 mg dosage twice a day.
