How Biden could try to reduce prescription drug costs
President Joe Biden could use his executive authority to reduce
prescription drug costs under the Affordable Care Act using the Center for
Medicare and Medicaid Innovation or through the authority granted under
Medicare that allows demonstration projects that test new health care delivery
and payment models, according to an analysis by Kaiser Family Foundation policy
experts. Other tools that could be used to make policy changes to reduce
prescription drug costs include annual payment and policy rules, regulatory
guidance and waivers.
