The
number of adults entering the age groups at greatest risk for being
diagnosed with cancer is increasing. Cancer Incidence Projections in the United
States Between 2015 and 2050 estimates that the total number of
cancer cases are expected to increase by almost 50% because of the growth
and aging of the U.S. population. An increase in incidence could also be
an increase in the number of cancer survivors, which could impact health
care and cancer surveillance resource needs. More focus on cancer risk
reduction could help counter increases in new cases.
