COVID-19 cases in the United States are currently from the delta variant, according to an estimate from the US Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention. New England, however, because the region's
high vaccination rates, is seeing a lower proportion than the national average.
In Los Angeles County, public health leaders are so concerned about the spread
of the variant that they've urged both vaccinated and unvaccinated people
to continue wearing masks inside public indoor spaces. And they're not the only
ones. Last week, the World Health Organization reiterated its recommendation for everyone to
wear masks.
