Pfizer leaders said Monday that its vaccine not only protects that age group against the virus but the company plans to ask regulators to authorize it for use in children soon. The dosage for young children would be a third of the dose that people 12 and older receive.
"Since July, pediatric cases of COVID-19 have risen by about 240 percent in the US, underscoring the public health need for vaccination," Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said in a statement.
