Protection from the coronavirus is lessening among nursing home staff, and
just over a quarter of those workers in Massachusetts have received
a booster shot.
Only about 27 percent of eligible nursing home staff have received their
booster shot, according to state data, while about 52 percent of Mass.
nursing home residents have been administered a booster shot.
The low COVID booster shot percentage is concerning to health experts.
“When infections get started in a nursing home, it’s been really hard to
contain it and the idea is that the booster could help,” David Grabowski, a
professor of health care policy at Harvard Medical School, said to Globe
reporter Kay Lazar.
