Researchers took a step toward universal type O
organs
Why it matters: At some point, you've probably heard about the
tragic reality of people dying while on the waitlist for organs. It's
particularly rough for patients with type O blood. But new research out of
Canada brings the medical community one step closer to the possibility of
converting most organs to universal type O. The proof-of-concept study has
found it is possible to safely convert donor organs intended for
