Why it matters: Doctors have long struggled to find
consistency in diagnosing genetic diseases known as STR-expansion disorders,
leaving patients to endure a "diagnostic odyssey" until they get
answers. But a new breakthrough by scientists could shorten the wait time,
thanks to the ability to test "long reads" of DNA that can't be
