Sustainability is the Pathway to Supply Chain Resilience
Rising geopolitical tensions and a
global pandemic have decayed trust in globalized trade flows and sparked
debates among business executives around the world on “strategic dependencies.”
In this environment, supply networks have become more vulnerable to a range of
risks, with more potential points of failure and less buffer to absorb
disruptions.
As detailed in an article by Anuj Saush, Leader of our European
Governance and Sustainability Centre, and Siwan Kalatzi, Supplier Risk
Management Director at CBRE, companies must review their supply chain
strategies to account for these new realities. Steps executives can take toward
achieving these goals include 1) Defining your appetite for responsible
sourcing; 2) Building partnerships that drive change; and 3) Shifting cost
focus to overall price of ownership.
