Hurricane Ian

HURRICANE IAN UPDATE

Just over a week ago, Hurricane Ian slammed into Florida as one of the strongest storms to hit the U.S. in decades. After catastrophic damage across Florida and the Carolinas, millions were left without power, shelter and running water. Our top priority at the Red Cross this past week has been to provide relief, support and comfort to communities impacted, but this is just the beginning of a long road to recovery for so many people affected.

If you or a loved one need to find a safe place to stay, visit redcross.org, download the Red Cross Emergency app
or call 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) to find an open shelter near you.

Test your knowledge!

The Red CrossWord is back!

For many of us, the weather is getting cooler and the need for indoor activities is increasing! This afternoon, grab a warm beverage, take a cozy break and test your knowledge with the October edition of the American Red CrossWord.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Honoring Patients: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Every two minutes, a person in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer — that's a staggering statistic. Cancer and its treatment options can damage blood cells, requiring patients to need blood transfusions.

This October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re asking all our dedicated (and new!) donors to come in to donate blood in honor of cancer patients and their inspiring journeys. As a special thank you, those who come to give blood Oct. 1-31 will receive a $5 e-gift card to a merchant of their choice.^

There are over 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. You could be a part of the recovery of even more survivors. Can patients count on you to help in the fight against breast cancer?

Gail

As we’ve seen over the past week, storms can devastate a community overnight and force so many individuals and families to flee their homes.

In the midst of such disasters, the American Red Cross is able to provide comfort, relief, and hope for tomorrow to people during their darkest hours. And this is only possible because of the commitment of compassionate friends like you.

While we don’t know for sure when the next disaster will happen, we know one is never far away. That’s why it’s so important that Red Cross teams are always at the ready to help those in need.

If you can, please consider making a gift today to provide lifesaving assistance to a community impacted by disaster. Every donation is so important to this essential work.

Please continue to stay safe and prepared — and thank you for all you do to help build stronger communities across the country.

It is only because of supporters like you that the Red Cross is able to respond when a disaster strikes or a home is impacted by fire, when someone needs CPR or a lifesaving blood transfusion, or when a family needs to contact a deployed service member in an emergency. And we don’t want to lose you! Thanks for your support!
