The Swedish tradition sounds rather morbid, but it’s rooted in simple organization. The name comes from not wanting to leave behind a mountain of “stuff” for loved ones to clean up when you pass, but the process isn’t just for older people. Don’t amass things,” she told Today. “Most people don’t know what they have.” In addition to staying tidy, Magnusson’s tips for “aging exuberantly” include always having something to look forward to, living by the mantra that it’s never too late, and eating chocolate.
