Underserved communities are
exactly that—underserved. And when it comes to
healthcare, the disparities can be a matter of life and
death.
For example, only 5–8% of blood cancer patients are currently
enrolled in clinical trials, and in underserved populations,
those percentages are even lower.
And bone marrow matching rates show large inequities at 79% for
Caucasian patients, compared to 48% for Hispanic/Latino patients
and 29% for Black patients.

The
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) believes that everyone
deserves access to the blood cancer treatment and care they
need—no matter who you are, how much money you make, where you
live, or the color of your skin. Join us tomorrow on World Cancer
Day as we help close the care gap. Donate now!
Your donation today helps us
advance critical cancer research and programs that support
patients and their families.
