CMS last week approved Maine’s request to expand Medicaid...
...after more than a year of delays and political infighting. Maine
voters originally approved expansion in November 2017, but the move was blocked
by then-Gov. Paul LePage (R). The expansion, a campaign promise of current Gov.
Janet Mills (D), will cover about 70,000 additional lives, a 27.2% increase in
eligibility. Maine currently serves 256,900 Medicaid beneficiaries. Expansion
coverage will be retroactive to July 2018.
