In a letter to President Trump dated March 1,

Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy (R) revealed that CMS Administrator Seema Verma has urged the state to be the first to apply for a Medicaid block grant, which would cap Medicaid spending at a fixed dollar amount from the federal government. The governor said he is "eager" to apply, but is also seeking the president's support. Alaska currently has 211,759 fee-for-service Medicaid beneficiaries.
