The FDA this month approved a second migraine drug from Eli
Lilly, Reyvow, an oral therapy that treats acute pain and other symptoms during
a migraine episode. This latest approval cements Lilly's status as a leader in
developing new migraine treatments. The company's Emgality, a CGRP inhibitor
that prevents migraine episodes, also made headlines when it was approved last
September. In the pharmacy benefit, Emgality currently holds preferred-tier
status for 16% of covered lives, growing to 59% with prior authoirzaton and/or
step therapy.
