Resources about CLIA Certification for
Covid-19 Testing in Schools
Many schools will be returning to in person
or hybrid teaching this fall. In an effort to provide support to schools who
may be doing COVID 19 testing, CMS has prepared materials to outline the
simple steps necessary to do this. The Clinical Laboratory Improvement
Amendments (CLIA) regulates the quality and safety of any entity performing
testing, including COVID 19 testing. CLIA are federal regulatory
standards that ensure patient laboratory test results are accurate, reliable
and timely. A CLIA certificate waiver is necessary for a school to do
testing. A Quick Start Guide, Infographic, and Fact Sheet are available
to help schools and other non-healthcare entities apply for a CLIA
Certificate of Waiver to perform COVID-19 testing. |
