A new study published in the journal Nature today found
that genetic factors could increase a person's likelihood to get a severe case
of COVID-19. Ben Neale, co-senior author of the study, said that
identifying which genetic markers are associated with a serious illness can
help people create stronger medications to help people who become infected with
the coronavirus. "If we had a mechanism of treating infection and getting
someone out of the hospital, that would radically alter our public health
response," he said.
