I
know many of us wanted 2021 to be different. We had vaccines, so surely
that meant life would go back to normal.
But
2021 had different plans for us, and the punch of these new variants has
been hard to process. I know some who have been vaccinated, boosted and
masked, and Omicron still managed to put a damper on holiday plans.
I
don’t want anyone to be discouraged or ashamed of testing positive. This is
what happens when you have a highly transmissible virus.
Last
week I talked about the importance of testing, so while I know isolating
yourself at home away from loved ones is the last place you want to be right
now, I want to thank you for doing the right thing.
Getting
tested, isolating yourself if you’re positive and alerting your close
contacts is one of the most responsible things you can do right now. You’re
helping break the chain of transmission.
And
hopefully, if you’re vaccinated and boosted, your symptoms will be mild.
After all, that’s what vaccines are for.
With
Omicron looming over us, it’s hard to look forward to 2022, but if we all
work together, things will get better.
So
even if you didn’t get to spend the holidays with your family, I hope you
will find some way in the new year to get some of that time back.
On
that note, I wanted to share a nice moment
I got to enjoy with my own family. Here's to many more of these in 2022! 🎉
