Dental workforce shortage affecting oral health in
Ala.
Only 20% of Alabama's dentist population serves residents in the state's
rural counties, and few new dentists decide to start a practice there each
year, threatening to put more stress on the workforce as more dentists reach
retirement age. Dentists are reporting higher rates of tooth decay because of
the lack of access.
