More than 300,000 Massachusetts residents who are vaccinated against the
virus got breakthrough COVID infections during the height of the Omicron
surge.
So does this mean they're "super immune"? And could that help us
speed up the return to normal?
My colleague Jessica Bartlett
reports that vaccinated people who have recently recovered from
a natural infection have among the highest degree of protection, according to
scientists. But it's still not clear how much of that immune protection is
enough to ward off future infection.
Even so, as the Omicron surge winds down, a sense of hope
is emerging that the coming months may bring something
resembling normal, evident in record bookings at New England inns, a steady
stream of tourists in Boston, and reservations at Boston restaurants and
clubs.
