Blood tests detected more than 50 genetic diseases
Why it matters: Researchers from the Garvan Institute of
Medical Research in Australia say a blood-based DNA test can detect more than
50 neurological and neuromuscular genetic diseases. "In the one test, we
can search for every known disease-causing repeat expansion sequence,"
said researcher Ira Deveson.
