Dementia,
cognitive health, and caregiving are not always included in community
health needs assessments, leading to their absence in public health
improvement and strategic plans. The newly released Needs Assessment Toolkit for Dementia,
Cognitive Health, and Caregiving can help state, local, and
territorial officials in public health and aging identify unmet needs of
older adults, scale up existing community strengths, and promote healthy
aging. Join the Alzheimer’s Association and the Association of State and
Territorial Health Officials for a brief overview of the toolkit.
Please

Improving
Brain Health for Populations Disproportionately Affected by Alzheimer’s
Disease and Related Dementias
|
|
|
The CDC
recently published an article in Clinical Gerontologist on the
importance of addressing Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD)
among populations disproportionately affected. The article discusses the
factors that can exacerbate disparities related to ADRD and the need to
implement approaches unique to each subpopulation. Awardees of the
CDC-funded National Healthy Brain Initiative are targeting several of the
most affected groups.
