Veteran Walter Meekins recently reunited with his Houston VA
cardiologists one year after undergoing a life-saving special heart
procedure.
“At
my age, I didn’t want to have open heart surgery,” Meekins said.
“My VA doctors found another way to help me.”

Dangerous
blood sugar levels and a severe infection led Veteran William
Shockey to have his foot amputated. His VA team worked with him to
make sure he had the necessary tools and equipment to make his
transition easier.
