order, which was to expire on April 18, by two weeks to monitor for any
observable increase in severe virus outcomes as cases rise in parts of the
country. The move was being made out of abundance of caution, the person said,
speaking on the condition of anonymity to preview the CDC’s action
(AP).
From Noah Rothman: NYT pegs the 7-day average of new cases at 31,567 as of 4/12. Seven days ago, it was 28,550. An increase of ~3,000 cases in a country of 330 million. When mask mandates disappeared en mass, we were averaging ~200,000 cases per day (Twitter).
