Our work manners needed work

Why it matters: Factors for increasing uncouthness in the workplace include effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, a tight job market, the internet and an influx of younger generations into the workforce, some experts say. Although times are changing and some societal norms are growing more outdated, basic business etiquette, such as using proper English in communications and being presentable, still goes a long way, says Toni Purvis, founder of the Washington, D.C.-based School of Disruptive Etiquette.
