A looming recession was no match for dollar stores

Why it matters: By now, you probably know that dollar stores have become $1.25 stores to cope with the rising costs of doing business, but don't let that fool you. If recent earnings from Dollar Tree and Dollar General are any indication, dollar stores across the US are very much a case study in economic resilience. That's because the stores are no longer just destinations for niche or kitschy items. They're becoming popular for essential items, too.
